Native Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that Shady Pines Festival takes place on the ancestral lands of the Clackamas people, a band of the Upper Chinook, who lived along the Clackamas and Sandy Rivers since time immemorial. These lands are part of the traditional territory of many Indigenous peoples, including the Multnomah, Wasco, Cowlitz, Kathlamet, Molalla, and other Tribes who have cared for these lands and waterways for generations.

Today, these communities continue to thrive as members of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, among others. We honor their enduring relationship with this land and recognize the historical and ongoing impacts of colonization, displacement, and broken treaties.

We take this opportunity to offer gratitude for the ability to learn, create, and gather together on this land, and we offer thanks to the original caretakers of this region. As a festival rooted in the local community, we are committed to acknowledging these truths and supporting Indigenous voices, presence, and sovereignty.
